MORNINGTON BOWLING CLUB.
A SUCCESSFUL BAZAAR. The Morningtofi Bowling Chib has always been noted for its progressivoness, and in order to extend its pavilion, which has become too small to meet the requirer ments of the club a bazaar was opened yesterday evening in the pavilion, when there was a crowded attendance. During the evening Mr Morrison's orchestra rendered enjoyable selection*. Mr D. Cunningham (president of iho club), who brieflv introduced Mr F J. C'-a'mpbell (president of the Dunedin Bowling Centre), and the Mayor (Mr H. L. Tapley). said that the club hoped to raiso the sum of £2CO by means of the bazaar in order to extend the social hqlP and to secure a piano and a billiard fable. Mr Campbell congratulated the club on its progressiveness), and said that tjhe extension of the pavilion would enable the club to cater for a larger number of members, and the social side .of its activities would also .benefit considerably. Mr Tapley, who declared the bazaar open, complimented the club on its fine premises and on the large area of ground which it nos»eased. There was a spirit of comradeship and friendliness among bowlers which was not found in other games. It bad been said that in various sports men did not encourage their wives to come and watch the play, but that was not the case in the Mornington Club.— (Applause.) He had been informed that it would not be long before a tennis court was opened by the club, and would also promote a soirit of friendship among (ho members. In conclusion, Mr Tapley said rnat he felt confident that the club would be successful in raising the required money, and he • wished it every prosperity in the future. The following are the stallholders:— Worb. Stall.—Mesdames Smith. Cunningham, Bontwood, Easton, Misses Whelnn and Moyle. x-ancy Stall.—Mesdames Wallace and Scott. Refreshment Room.—Mesdames Morris son, Connell, Bell. Herrich, Alexander, and Brown. I Sweet Stall.—Misses Mitchell, Wilson, and Pleace. I Produce Stall.—Messrs Vance. Barclay, Hobbs, Mrs Vance, and Miss Bontwood. The bazffar will be continued this after.noon and evening, and also to-morrow afternoon and evening.
