PIGEON FLYING.

NORTH DUNEDIN CLUB. The North Dunedin Homing Pigeon Club held its annual meeting in the club room on Saturday, July 26. The balance sheet showed that the club was in a sound financial position, and had had a successful season’s flying. The following patrons were elected: —Messrs J. Hutchison, A. J. White, H. J. Duncan, G. Thomson, J. Thomson, H H. Hogg W. Yates, J. Knowles, G. Ramsay, K. S. Ramsay, W. Esquilant, J. Zimmerman, C. C. Armstrong, G. A« Skene, G* Newcy, A. A. Binnie, D. Terry, W. Niven, C. Bills, C. Abernothy, and W. Watson, sen. The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mr S. Hutchison; vice-presidents, Mr W. Trewern and Mr A. Brown; lion, secretary, Mr C. Conley; assistant secretary and treasurer, Mr S. M'Donald; Finance Committee, Mr B. Brown and Mr G. Thomson; Race Committee—Messrs B. Brown, B. W. Powell, G. Thomson, and the president and secretary; Clock Committee —Messrs A. Brown, L. West, and H. Brown; life members Mr T. Umbers and Mr J. Zimmerman. A ' social evening was' held in the NorthEast Valley Bowling Club’s Hall on August 12, about 50 couples being present. During the evening the president of the Dunedin Homing Pigeon Club (Mr Jones) presented the trophies and certificates won during the past year. Mr S. Hutchison had the honour of winning the aggregate for the season. The following rendered items;—Clog dance, Miss M'Curthy; songs—Mr Watcraon, Mr Conley, and Mrs S. Hutchison; comic songs, Mr R. Turner. The club flew a flock race from Ashburton, an airline distance of 143 miles, on Saturday, August 16. Mr R. Galbraith liberated 108 birds, representing 16 lofts. The first bird’s time was 3hr 27min 17sec. The results were as follows:—G. Thomson’s Peterina, velocity 1258yds, 1; A. Brown’s Hardwood, 1257yds, 2; J. Hay’s Blackwood, 1254yds, 3; A. Lucas's Silver Peak. 1254yds, 4; Powell Bros.' Red Prince, 1253yds, 5; A. Fraser’s Circus Clown, 1253yds, 6; S. Hutchison's Bird, 1251yds, 7. Also competed: Duncan and M’Donald, W. Trewern, L. Tonks L. West, B. Brown, H. Brown, C. Venncll, C. Conley, W. Powell. On Saturday the club flew its second Ashburton flock race in beautiful weather. Mr B. Galbraith liberated 95 birds, representing 13 lofts. The first bird’s time was 2hr 43min 24sec. The following are the results:—A. Lucas’s Silver Peak, velocity 1598yds, 1 ; W. Trowem’s Durham, and Powell Bros.’ Selwyn, 1597yds (equal), 2; A. Brown’s Butcher, 1593yds, 4; J. Hays’s Lcngshot, 1593yds, 5; A. Fraser's Hot Pie, 1590yds, 6; G. Thomson’s Spotty, 1585yds, 7. Also competed: H. Brown, L. Tonks, B. Brown, C. Venncll, W. Powell, Duncan and M'Donald.
