(From Cue Own Correspondent.) INVERCARGILL, August 22. Oats. —This market ia still as firm as oyer, sales of A grade having been made during the week at 6s Bd, B’s at 6a 2d, f.0.b., e.i. The demand in the meantime is more confined to the better grade owing, to the requirements from the north for sowing down. Oats of this description are becoming increasingly difficult to get hold of. These remarks almost equally apply to B grade, as over-sellers of B’s are finding it increasingly difficult to execute their contracts. The presence oS Canadians is of no assistance to such over sellers, as graders at different pouts refuse to pass Canadians as B grade. It seems more than ever evident that sales of New Zealand oata have been made in excess of the quantity available, and sooner or later some unfortunate over-sellers will have to meet the position by compensating their buyers. Chaff. —Very little has been offering recently and prime lots would easily be saleable £7, 0.t.c.5., providing delivery could be made promptly. The future of the oat and chaff markets is decidedly difficult to forecast. The introduction of Canadian oats will, however, stabilise the -pnee of New Zealand grown oats and chaff as well. Wheat. —Supplies of fowl wheat are also non-existent in Southland, and as it does not seem possible to get any further permits for such from Australia, local poultry-keepers will have to look to northern markets for

their requirements. Any fowl wheat that might be offered by growers would meet a market at 5s Bd. 0.t., their stations. Ryegrass.—The, tone of this market is decicdcdly firm and inquiries from the north arc becoming numerous. The basis of values is Ss 3d per bushel for 271 b seed. A line of undressed 261 b seed changed hands during the week at 6s 8d per bushel, 0.t.5.e., Invercargill. STOCK REPORT. During the past week the stock market has remained firm.
