THE SHARE MARKET.

DUNEDIN STOCK EXCHANGE. More sales took place on tho Dunedin Stock Exchange yesterday than on any other day during the week. Business on tho whole has been busier than usual. Banking shares have been aptive, and there has been a noticeable improvement in some lines. Buyers of Australasias began the week by quoting at £l3 16s, but their offer has increased to £l3 13s. sellers yesterday asking only 5d in advance of this price. New Zoalands have improved slightly, while tho offer for Unions haa increased hy 4s 6d. N.Z. Breweries have fallen off a good deal, and Mannings and Wards have appeared occasionally. This stock on the whole has boon weak. Insurances arc steady, but there has been no particular line attracting attention. Tho most active stock during the week was P. and O. Dcferreds. which commenced at £290. On Tuesday the offer increased to £293 10s, and on Wednesday a sale took place at £SOO, the quotations being separated by £l. Two sales took place on 'Change yesterday at £3lO. Howard, Smiths and Huddart, Parkers have both improved. Coals are firm, and quotations remain much tho same. Buyers of Dalgeties increased their offer by 2s 6d on Tuesday, but it again stands at £l3 ss. Sellers of Mortgages still ask 765, and on Tuesday there was an inquiry at 71s 6d, which has failed to reappear. Tho buying quotation for Loan ords. still remains at £9O, N.Z. Refrigeratings remain the centre of interest in meat preserving stocks, and sales of this lino have taken place. On Monday sellers of Canterbury Moats asked £l4, and Gear Moats appeared on Wednesday with a selling quotation of 445, which increased the following day to 455. British Tobaccos are quiet. There have been continuous buying quotations for Brown, Ewings, but sellers have failed to respond. Sellers of Dominion Rubbers now ask 19s, whereas they previously demanded 20s. Stock Exchange Proprieties have died off tho market, but Empire Buildings appeared yesterday, sellers asking 19s. Buy era of Dun-edin-Kaikorai Trains quote at 275, but sellers have not responded. Kaiapois started quite actively, but towards tho end of the week became very quiet. Expresses and Hardwares have both been active, and Wilsons remain unchanged. Mining shares have been busy, and sales of Waihis and Zincs have taken place. Sales of war bonds have beoa numerous, and all issues are firm. Sales: P. and O.
