A.O.F. Court Little John held its fortnightly meeting on Tuesday evening, C.R. Bro. vV. C. Reynolds presiding over a large attendance of members. Four candidates were initiated, the ceremony being conducted by the C.R. and P.C.R. Bro. C. Reynolds. It w-a-s decided to accept an invitation to be jircacnt at the diamond jubilee meeting of Court Pride of the Leith. After tho business had been completed an adjournment was made, and a progressive euchre tournament lie Id, the prize-winners being P.C’.R. Bros. M'Kenzie and A. H. Sinclair. The sisters were entertained at supper by the brothers, and a most enjoyable evening waa brought to a close shortly after 10 o'clock. A meeting of the committee of the NorthEast Valley Ex-Pupils’ Association was held in tho school on Monday evening, the following being present; Messrs Begg (presiMcnt, in the chair), Evans, Elliot, and BardaTe.y, Mosdames Alexandra, Stewart, Munro, Webster, and Anderson. It was resolved to hold the annual meeting in tho last week of September,* when a social evening would also be held, the committee to meet earlier to draw up a syllabus of entertainments for tho incoming year. The secretary was instructed to write thanking all those who had periorraed at the recent musical feast held in Burns Hall, also to pay ail accounts and to ask all those who had tickets for sale to hand them in as soon as possible. The committee decided to assist tho school children iu a concert to be held in October in aid of the school funds.

Me Priest presided at the monthly meeting oi the? St. Clair School Committee, which was a short one owing to other business in regard to the jumble sale having to be dealt with. The inspector’s report, which was to hand, proved very satisfactory, tho main trouble being tho urgent need for increased accommodation. It was resolved that a deputation wait on the Education Board regarding an addition to the school. In respect to the installing of electric light in the school, this was left in the hands of the head master find secretary. Both tho A football and A hockey teams won three matches and lost one during tho month. Owing' to tho holidays intervening it was found necessary to delay tho holding of the jumble salb until September 20. Messrs Campbell and Rhodes were appointed visiting committee tor the ensuing month. On Tuesday evening last a Scottish concert wua given to tho inmates of Ross Home, under the directiou of Mrs Norman Blair. The old folk greatly enjoyed the Scotch songs and dances. Those contributing items were as follows:, —Songs—Mrs Norman Blair, Mrs M’Ooll. Mr Bert liawlinaon, Mr Watereon; duet, Mrs N. Blair and Mr B. Ilawlineon; piano solos. Miss Brunton; Highland dances—Misses Lucy Robinson, Edna Agnow, and Alice Bi'ockctt. The accompanist was Miss Brunton, The matron thanked the porformersf and tho concert closed with tho singing of the National Anthem.
