EMPIRE'S BONNIEST BABY
WHY AUSTRALIA WON. LONDON, August 4. An Australian Mother in an article in The People on the subject of why the “All England” babies lost the Empire Baby Competition and why Australiawon, says that Australian expectant mothers are not treated with sniggering amusement and pity. “We don’t get ill when we are going to have babies,” she says. “Instead wo go out and get more sunshine and fresh air, and have longer playtime. “W© don’t have babies at haphazard times, but only when we can afford to keep them. We also manage our babies better— no long clothes; in fact, very few clothes at ail. “During the mornings, before the sun is too hot, the kiddies lie in the open air, either naked or clad in a tiny garment. We hardly ever hear our babies cry, and never see had complexions among our children.”
