Increased competition for homeward cargoes during the forthcoming wool season is promised in an announcement by three Japanese lines of their intention to conduct a monthly cargo service from Australian ports to the United Kingdom via Apia and Panama in opposition to the European, British, and Australian lines at present operating. The first vessel, the Belfast Maru, will sail at the end of September.
