A meeting of the Mutual Starr-Buwkett Society was held last evening, when a free loan of £SOO was drawn by cluster No. 178. Tho chairman (Mr J. H. Wilkinson) intimated that the final dividend from the profits of No. 1 group was uow ready for distribution. The total dividends paid in this group was £ll 12s per share on 759 shares; a total of £8700.. Applications for ©hares in No. 3 group kept coming in, and it was hoped that the share list would be closed shortly. At a meeting of the United Starr-Bowkett Building Society last evening, Mr E. A. Rosevoar, chairman of directors, stated that only a few shares remained to complete the new No. 8 group. A ballot would bo held next > Thursday, and all getting in their applications before that date woirld participate. Ho would also be able to announce by then that the group had been filled up in less than six months. A ballot was taken for the 98th appropriation in No. 3 group, and cluster No. 20, held by two members, was drawn. A sale was held for the 99th appropriation in No. 3 group, which realised £SOO at £25. A ballot was held for the 42nd appropriation in No. 5 group, cluster No. 117, held by one member, being drawn. A sale of the 43rd appropriation in No. 5 group realised £SOO at £36. A cablegram from London states that gold is quoted at £4 11s Id an oz. Waihi shares me quoted a,t 29a and Waihi Grand Junctions at Is lOd.
