COOKING BY ELECTRICITY.

AN EDUCATIVE DEMONSTRATION. A demonstration of cooking' by moans of Universal electric ovens at the premises of the Barth Electrical Supplies (Ltd.), Princes street, yeatorday morning ami afternoon attracted considerable interest os cooking and baking are perhaps the housewife's most important daily tasks. The demonstration, which was given for the purpose of bringing under tho notice of housewives the many advantages to be gained by cooking by means of electricity, was carried out on two small ovens, and loaves, both white and brown, were baked in a few minutes. Whoatmeal soones were also turned out in batches, and they were greatly enjoyed by the spectators to whom they were handed round, together with cups of steaming eolFee, which was prepared in electric percolators. Besides being clean and economical the Universal ovens may be kept at a certain heat, and thus the temperature may be altered to suit the various stages in baking. The oven may be warm, hot, or very hot, and by turning a knob, it is possible to control the temperature. Tho oven is simplicity itself, and is very easily kept dean. It is claimed that, this oven mil do everything that_ a cod range or a gas cooker can do, and is much more economical. The demonstrations will be continued till about the middle of next week. A joint will be roasted on Saturday morning.
