TAIERI EXPANSION LEAGUE.

There was a good attendance at the monthly meeting of the Taieri Expansion League. The president (Mr VV. iu. M'Loan) was in the chair. The principal business of the meeting was consideration of matters affecting additional railway faculties for the town and district. the Mayor and some of the councillors were present, the former conveying tne information that the Railway Department had sent a reply to the borough’s requests (1) that an overbridge be erected at Mosgiel Junction station, and (2) that suburban trains run to and from Mosgiel Township station. The reply to both requests was an unfavourable one. The Mayor suggested that some united action should be taken. On some previous occasions Mosgiel and been divided when a request had to bo made and he now hoped that -whatever was ’decided on would be supported by both the council and the league. A genera! discussion followed, and it was eventually agreed that the overbridge question be not pushed at, present but that all energies be centred on the attempt to have all suburban trams run to the township station. A committee consisting of the president, vice-president, secretary, and two members of the league was appointed to confer with the borough council as to what steps should be taken. The matter of private streets was discussed, and what the borough council had done was noted.
