ENOCH ARDEN
A MAN WHO CAME BACK.
NEW YORK, July 27
A case of an Enoch Arden who turned up after 30 years, to the dismay of his wife, who had been married again for 23 years, has been revealed in the courts here.
“You are a mental wreck, without the courage to do as Enoch Arden did, and leave your wife in peace,” commented Justice Dike in rendering a reluctant judgment in favour of the man, Robert H. Boyd.
Boyd deserted his wife 30 years ago. Now crippled, and almost blind, lie is the inmate of a charity home. His wife, in ISOI, married a well-to-do manufacturer.
