I Advice received by the Canadian Government Merchant M-Trine states that the Canadian Spinner, which left Auckland on June £, arrived at Boston on July 21. HURUNUI AT ROCKHAMPTON. The New Zealand Shipping Company has been advised that the Hurunui arrived at Rockhampton on July 25 from Gladstone to continue loading for the United Kingdom. She Will later go to Townsville and other Australian ports to complete loading. JAPANESE STEAMER UGA MABU. The Japanese steamer Uga Mara, which went ashore on Piper Island, east of Capo York,, was formerly tho Auatralbrook, of the Commonwealth Line. She was sold to Japan last March, and was one of tho original Austral s bought by Mr Hughes in 1917- Sho is a vessel of 4336 gross tons, built at Greenock in 1909, When purchased by the Japanese she was renamed, and loaded a cargo of coal at Newcastle Cor Manila, P.I. She waa sighted by the Swedish motor ship Dullaren, ashore on May , ia, but had not fignallcd for assistance. She was equipped with wireless, but carried no operaton. Tho new Union Steam Ship Company s motor ship Aorangi was launched at the I 1 airfield Yard at Govau on dune 17. febo is of 17,530 tons, 600 it long, and will have a contract speed of 17i knots, KAIWARRA LEAVES MELBOURNE. Cable advice received by the Union Company states that tho KaLvarra left Melbourne at II a.m. on Saturday for Auckland and Wellington. The vessel is bringing produce from Uevonport (Tasmania) and general cargo from Melbourne. She ia due at Auckland to-morrow. TE ANAU FOR WANGANUI. Tho old steamer Te Anau haa been dismantled at Port Chalmers, and ballast put in her holds in readiness for her being towed to Wanganui. This morning the' Kaitokc, from Bluff will call at Fort Chalmers to tow the To Anau to Wanganui. Mr M'Nicoll, chief officer of the Waibora, will go in charge of tho Te Anau, with a cook and crew of six seamen. ROTORUA PROM ENGLAND. The next passenger liner of the New Zealand Shipping Company's fleet to leave England for New Zealand will be the Rotorua, which is scheduled to sail from Southampton on August 14 for Wellington and Port Chalmers. She should arrive at Wellington on September 18. NEW STEAMER FOR C. AND D. LINE. Tho Commonwealth and Dominion Line has placed an order with Messrs Workman, Clark, and 00. (Ltd 1, for a steamer of 8600 tons gross for tho Australian trade. The new vessel is to bo equipped with Doxford Diesel engines, and a Duct keel has been specified. TEKOA PROM LONDON. Cabled advice received by tho New Zealand .Shinning Company states that the Tekoa, eu route from London to Auckland and Wellington, left Panama cn July ‘22. She ia due at Auckland about August 12, and at AVel'ington a week later. Captain Summers-Vine is in cemmand. DOCKING PLANT AT SOURABAYA. The suggestion of sending the C. and D. Lino steamer Port Lyttelton to Sourabaya for repairs draws attention not only to the unhealthy conditions as regards labour in the ship-repairing industry at Sydney, but also to the inadequate facilities for docking and repair work in Australia (says tho Harbour). The Sourabaya Dry Dock Company has one of the finest plants in tho East. To begin with, it haa a 14,000 tons dock, in which tho largest ship can be raised m three hours. There is also an 8000-ton pontoon dock as well as a 4000-ton dock and a slipway 500 ft long. The biggest vessels trading to the East can he accommodated with comfort a( this establishment. Last year 800,000 tons of shipping were drydocktd.
