Mr Leri io Borrow, formerly of Dunedin, but now residing at Wyudham, has boon appointed musical judge of the YVintou Competitions Festival, to be held in September. Constable P. Fnlion, of Rosiyn, will succeed tho late Constable Portcous in charge of the Fondalton Station. Messrs O. C. Hebb, J. ITardie, and E. E. Soldi, of Sydney, and Mr M. Andrews, of Geelong, are overseas guests at present staying at the Excelsior Hotel. An Oamaru Press Association messag, reports that Mr David Lauder, aged 74, a retired Hcnurmiller. died suddenly. Salmon, of the Dunedin Citv Fire Brigade, fho was married recently, was met by his fellow members last evening and presented "with a handsome upholstered easy chair. Mr A. G Napier (superintendent), in making the presentation, said Fireman Salmon came from a fire-fighting family, and had at ail times proved himself a capable and conscientious worker. He wished both Vand Mrs Salmon every happiness. Several other speakers spoke, after which tho recipient suitably replied.
