The Progress, from Wellington, is duo on Thursday. The Storm has been delayed at Dunedin till to-day, and will leave about 5 p.nt. fen Timara, Lyttelton, Wellington, Pioton. and Wanganui. Tho Waimarino will leave to-morrow for Wallaroo to load wheat for New Zealand ports. The Gale is due here from Lyttelton tomorrow, and will nail the same day for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and 'Wanganui. The Moenalri will leave Melbourne to-day for Bluff, where she ia duo on Sunday. She will proceed to Dunedin the following day. THE CANADIAN MILLER. Messrs H. L. Tapley and Co. advise that tho Canadian Miller is duo here from Melliourne on July 20, and will on-il tho following day for Lyttelton, Wellington, and Auckland, leaving Auckland finally for New York. Boston, or Montreal on or about July 28 on 33. FROM THE UNITED KINGDOM. The Federal S.N. Company advises that the following vessels have been fixed to bring general cargo from the West Coast porta of Great Britain to New Zealand: Tho Orari ia duo to Bail from Liverpool on August 9 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, and New Plymouth. Tho Cumberland, ia due to seal from Liverpool on August 16 for Nlew Zealand (porta Hot advised). The Hertford is due to sail from Liverpool on August 30 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Bluff. STEAMERS FOR OLD DOMINION LINK. . Tho keels for the two big new passenger ! and freight ships being built for tho Old Dominion Steamship Company by tho Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company. were laid ia March last at the Newport NeiVs plant. These vessels will bo named the George Washington and Robert E. Lee, and it ia expected they will be completed in lime to enter the spiring business next year. The incorporation of these fine new modern ships in this rout© will mark a new era in the development of this old-established undi famous line. SWEDISH MOTOR TONNAGE. Although it is known that tho policy of constructing steamers in Sweden has boon very largely abandoned (says the Commercial News and Shipping List), the actual figures relating to tho years 1913-1924 show a remarkable result. The increase in the number of motor vesoeia and auxiliary craft is 754 per cent., and the increased motor tonnage 1521 per cent. In the same period the steamer tonnage has fallen 1.9 per cent As Mr Dan Brostrom stated a year ago, “No leading Swedish, Danish, or Norwegian shipowner thinks seriously of any other class of vessel than the motor ship.” LOTTIE BENNETT SOLD. The American four-masted schooner Lottie Bennett was sold recently to Pacific Coast buyers. She arrived at Puget Sound op, April 16 last, after discharging a cargo of lumber at Wellington. Together with tho Annie M. Campbell, W. ,H. Smith, and Eric, the Lottie Bennett has been for several years regularly engaged in the lumber-carrying trade from tho Pacific Coast to tho Islands, New Zealand, and Australia. The Lottie Bennett is a wooden vessel of 496 tons net register,' and was built at Port Blakeley (Washington) in 1899. She was owned by tho Burns, Philp Company of San Franci:.co.
