The Mosgicl Girl Guidos aro becoming an important part in the social life of Mosgici, a.nd several vary successful social afternoons have been hold lately. One of these took place last week as the residence of Mrs Stirling (Gladstone road). A programme of musical items was contributed ,by (ho following:—Piano solos, Mrs Pa rata and Guide Lexio M'Nab; vocal solos and ducts, Mesdamea Stirling and Waddell ; recitations, Mrs G. heath (Dunedin) and Guide Lottie Cameron. The dramatic recital of ‘‘Convict 91,” by Mrs heath, will long be remembered by those privileged to bear it. Mrs Finlay Chcyne made an efficient accompanisle. After a very dainty tea, in which the hostess was assisted by some, Girl Guides, the Guides gave a “haka,” then all adjourned to the dining room, where there was a splendid display of cakes and sweets made by the Girl Guides. These goods were for sale, and found ready purchasers. A large fruit cake, presented by _ Mrs Charles Deary, caused keen competition, Mrs Stephens, Gladstone road, winning the prize. Captain Waddell, in a few words, thanked the hostess for her great kindness. Mrs also spoke. This closed a very enjoyable and successful afternoon, which was given in aid of the funds of the Mosgicl Girl Guides. 1
