14,000 PEOPLE CONVERTED

During a period of 18 months prior to the close of Captain Gipsy Pat Smith addressed something like 1,400,000 people, and it is claimed that 14,000 people proleased convertion. Men’s meetings have been a special feature of Gipsy Pat Smith's campaigns, and hundreds of thousands of men have been reaction by the Gospel Message through the evangelist. Prior to coming to New Zealand, Gipsy Pat Smith held a four weeks’ campaign at Ixis -iiigelos, California, whore it is estimated that 200,000 people attended the meetings. Gipsy Smith is described by one ot the ministers there as “a* simple preacher of the old-time Gospel, and has n way all of his own. Ho has a winsome personality, a tender voice, and makes a strong appeal for an out-and-out decision for Christ. ‘Nail your colours to Hie mast, and burn your bridges bemud you,’ ir. a favourite phrase of his. Ho and Mrs Gipsy Pat sing well together, he other morning ho spoke to our student body, and at the close Dr Torrey said, ‘We have listened to many great men from this platform, and we thank God for them, but no message has gone to my heart as this one has this morning.” Such are glimpses of the man and his work —the man whom Dunedin will bo welcoming early next month.
