Application for a writ of mandamus commanding the Manukau Licensing Committee to grant tho renewal of the license of the Hibernian Hotel at Onchunga, which was made m the Supreme, Court bv Bass, the licensee, was dismissed bv Mr Justice Stringer, who concluded that tho committee had ample evidence in support of it. opinion that tho hotel was not conducted in a proper manner. PALMERSTON NORTH. Juno 20. A deputation of representatives of the Royal Agricultural Society waited upon Mr 1 Massey regarding tho question of a subsidy 1 for the society. In reply, Mr Massey said ho would discuss the matter with his colleagues, and official advice of the decision would Do forwarded in due course. GISBORNE. Juno 20 Arrangements for tho Gisborne Harbour Joan of £250,0C0 have been completed, and the loan at 5 per cent., issued at 94, has been definitely raised. The net return to investors will bo £5 8s Id per cent., the same a.s in the case of the recent New Plymouth ami Wanganui loans. STRATFORD, June 20. ' This afternoon the Hon. J. G. Coates performed u triple ceremonv at Stratford • opening tho new bridge, tho Public Trust building, and tho post office. Tho weather | was fine, and there was a largo and onthustastic gathering. The Minister was presented with a silver trowel and a gold key of the post office. In tho course of Ids speech, the Minister, referring especially to the work of tho Public Trust Office, 1 said that when tho branch was established | in Straltord in 1920 the number of estates I in tho Stratford district under tho odI ministration of the public trustee was 34, 1 with a total value of £33,900. By the I end of March last tho number had incrcasd to 117, with a total value of £215,825. During the year ended March last 66 estate.l valued at £117,873 were entrusted to the I Stratford office for ndminislration. At tho present time £457,694 had been advanced to borrowers in the Stratford district — £223,832 to farmers and private persons, and £233,862 to local bodies for public works purposes. The expansion of business in tho Stratford district was typical of tho largo increase which had taken place througnout the dominion in the work of the Public 'Trust Office, which had now been m existence 50 years. In 1889 the total value of the estates held by tiust for administration was £1,240,098, and today tho total was £02,404,725. The Minister was entertained at a public dinner tonight.
