In tho course of Ids speech, the Minister, referring especially to the work of tho Public Trust Office, 1 said that when tho branch was established | in Straltord in 1920 the number of estates I in tho Stratford district under tho odI ministration of the public trustee was 34, 1 with a total value of £33,900. By the I end of March last tho number had incrcasd to 117, with a total value of £215,825. During the year ended March last 66 estate.l valued at £117,873 were entrusted to the I Stratford office for ndminislration. At tho present time £457,694 had been advanced to borrowers in the Stratford district — £223,832 to farmers and private persons, and £233,862 to local bodies for public works purposes. The expansion of business in tho Stratford district was typical of tho largo increase which had taken place througnout the dominion in the work of the Public 'Trust Office, which had now been m existence 50 years. In 1889 the total value of the estates held by tiust for administration was £1,240,098, and today tho total was £02,404,725. The Minister was entertained at a public dinner tonight.
