Labour 16 Independent 1 The last few results are not expected for 48 hours, but it is almost certain that the final result will give the Pact a majority of 27. —Reuter. TRANSVAAL SOLID FOR THE PACT. GENERAL SMUTS AND HIS PART*. CAPETOWN, June 19. The South African Party gained five seats, Labour eight, and the Nationalists 13, with one Independent. Mr H. Burton, Minister of finance, was defeated. A feature of tho elections is the landslide to the Pact in the Transvaal. In the Cape and Natal provinces tho Government fully held its own. General Smuts, in a message gives expression to the hope that he will still continue to lead the South African Party. —Reuter.
