CITY MARKETS FIRE.
ELECTRIC LIGHT SYSTEM. *DEFECTTVE INSTALLATION. (Pee United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, June 19. Mr S, M. Hunt, S.M., delivered his judgment to-dav concerning the recent fire at the City Markets. He found that it started below the ceiling of the premises occupied by the Fruit Case Company at 2 a.in. on April s‘, and was caused by a Defective installation of the electric light system The bent elbow of a conduit pipe was lonml at the place where the fire originated. J ins elbow was fired and burnt right through. There was no inspection of the opening m the elbow as required by the regulations. Three other defects were found in the installation any one of which might have caused a fire, and would have done so sooner or later. . , The magistrate was satisfied that the rules and regulations under “The Public Works Act 1911 ” for the safety of the lives and property of consumers of electrical energy had not been properly observed in Ihe district. ____
