OTAGO CENTRE MEETING. The monthly mooting of tlie Otago Centre! of tlie. cNw Zealand Amateur Athletic Associiilion was held in the I'.M.C.A, laet night, tin; president (Mr E. L. The secretary was instructed to write to the New Zealand Council asking if a com-, potitor who had won a- sealed handicap was still a “maiden” runner, and also for a. definition of a "novice” runner. The matter of competitors’ numbers for the forthcoming Port Chalmers-Dunedin road race was left to the secretary. It wo<3 decided that the Otago five-mile championship he held at Wingatui on Saturday, August 2. Applications for reinstatement as amateur athletes were received from J. T. Andrew® (Stilling) and J. B. Hill (Mataura).—The application of Andrews was forwarded to tiro New Zealand Council with a favourable recommendation, and the secretary' 1 was instructed to point out that a new club w»b being formed in South Otago, and Andrews would he of great assistance if the rein- : : statement was' granted.—Hill’s recommendation was also forwarded to the council, and the secretary was instructed to explain ilia circumstances, of the cane.
