ACROSS AUSTRALIA
NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENT RECOGNISED. Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright, LONDON, June 6. * Mr Michael Terry, the well-known Australian traveller, has been made a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, in recognition of his trans-Australian expedition. Mr Terry is an adventurous young Australian, only 25 years of age, who recently carried out a remarkable motor trip right across Australia from Winton (Q.) to Broome (W.A.). He and a younger companion, Richard Yockley, bought an old Ford car for a song, repaired it themselves, and drove it a distance of nearly 3000 miles right across tiro Northern Territory, traversing country whore for long distances there was hardly even a track, and where they sometimes had difficulty in securing water supplies. Mr Terry had also, earlier, had a good deal of experience as a drover in Western Queensland.
