OTAGO RADIO ASSOCIATION.
Tho monthly general meeting of the Otago Radio Association was held in tho Returned Soldiers’ Association cluhrooms last’ night, Mr K. C. Jones (president) occupying the chair. There was a small attendance of members. Accounts amounting to £9 Is 6d wet© passed for payment. Five resignations were accepted, and 12 honorary members were elected. 1 Messrs A. G. M’Carthy and T. Finiayon eubmilWl a report on behalf of the Schedule Committee, suggesting various, competitions both for all the association’s members, and i for those not engaged' in tho electrical and \ allied trades, —The report was adopted. Fetters -were received from , amateurs In Milton, Donnevirke, and Wanganui, reporting satisfactory reception of the Otago Asso- < tiation’a transmissions. A schedule of regulations, which was submitted for the proper conducting of broadcasting from the association's station, 4AB, and the care of the plant, was approved. The Secretary of the Auckland Radio Association wrote stating that the members considered that in view of the movements Wellington, and as it was practically certain that the broadcasting scheme would com© before Parliament next session, a dominion organisation of amateurs should not be delayed. The Auckland Radio Association was endeavouring to form an idea of what the amateurs ndeded over tho whole of New Zealand in order that tho Auckland members could model their idea to suit, then all the associations could amalgamate and form a body that" would suit all the New Zealand amateurs. With that end in view the Auckland amateurs would be obliged if the Otago Association would advise the northern body of what they considered were amateur requirements, particularly in relation to power and location of broadcasting stations, control of programmes, etc.—The letter was received. —Mr R. Bruce moved, and Mb R. T. Stcdman seconded—“ That the Otago Radio* Association communicate with the other amateur Societies in New Zealand with a view to holding a conference, and the formation of a dominion body to watch the interests of amateurs : n connection with the Government scheme. *' —The motion was carried.
