LICENSING REFORM.
Sib, —A very groat number of people who read and search tne Scriptures are fully convinced that the use of wine is a very oid custom, and has been permitted throughout the ages. Wine was used at the marriage feast in Galilee where the “miracle” was performed by the Father of us all. Then wo are told in the Book of Books, to take a little “wine.” Again, it telling ns that “wine” makes glad the heart of man we are told that wo are not to be “drunken” with wine unto excess, this surely showing (bat (bo wine of (he lime was intoxicating. Where prohibition lias been carried, not only in New Zealand, but all the world over, seemingly the powers that bo do not prevent the proliibited liquor from going into prohibited areas. Why not no-license, no liquor? Instead of a cry to reform the trade there should be a cry to reform the individual who misuses bis privilege. A person who respects himself would not become intoxicated. Therefore educate the people to respect themselves, to show r forth their own example, to cause their own light to shine that others may be led by it.—l am, etc., I. S-
