CONFERENCE OF DISTRICT CO U NOILS. (Pee United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH. June 14. Tho conference of representatives of the District Councils of the W.E.A. was held here to-day, and was attended by Professor J. Shelley (Canterbury), Dr G. H. Thompson (Otago), Mr \V. B. Kennedy (Wellington), and Mr W. M’C’uilongh (Auckland). In the absence of Mr H. D. Acland (dominion president) Dr Thompson presided. It was decided that, a deputation consisting of delegates from the four districts to bo augmented by members of Parliament who arc in sympathy with tho movement, wait on tho Minister and ask for financial assistance. The question of establishing a magazine on the lines of ‘’Highway,” the organ of British W.E A. movement, was discussed. It was suggested that Now Zealand could be given a place in the Australian (Highway.” Finally, it was agreed that it would be better for the movement to have a magazine of its own in Now Zealand. The matter was deferred pending the finding of a capable member of the movement who could give time to editing of the organ. The secretary reported that there were now 84 classes’ in Now Zealand, made up as follows: —Canterbury 23, Wellington 20. Otago and Southland 21, and Auckland 19.
