Forty pouches of registered mail, containing bonds and currency notes of the value of over 1,000,000 dollars, were stolen by bandits, who held up the mail train 40 miles north of Chicago.—Reuter. SUCCESSFUL POLICE WORK. SIX ARRESTS MADE. NEW YORK, June 14. (Received June 16, at 5.5 p.m.) News from Chicago states that five men and one woman have been arrested and charged by the police with being involved in the hold-up of a train on Thursday night. The robbers have been identified and the arrest of others is expected soon. It is hoped that part of the loot amounting to over a million dollars of registered mail will be recovered.—A. and N.Z.
