THE OLYMPIC GAMES

ARRIVAL OF AUSTRALIAN TEAM. Press Association —By Telegraph— Copyright. PARIS, June 12. The members of the Australian Olympic team were welcomed by the French Olympic Committee. They will start training immediately. Forty-two nations have entered for the Olympic Games. The Australians will compete in shooting, athletics, wrestling, boxing, swimming, rowing, tennis, and cycling.—A. and N.Z. Cable. LACK OF TRAINING FACILITIES. TEAMS ENCOUNTER DIFFICULTIES. LONDON, June 16. (Received June 13, at 5.5 p.m.) Intending competitors at the Olympic Games are experiencing many difficulties in connection with their training arrangements. The boxers, cyclists, athletes and swimmers each train in different parts of Paris, long distances from their hotels. On their arrival the Australian athletes found that no facilities whatever had been provided. Tire authorities state that the Colombes itself is not available for training purposes. The athletes declare that the special training track is too heavy and is unsuitable, lacking facilities for hurdlers and jumpers. Those who visited the Colombes racing track to-day say that the track is soft, with many holes. Most of the visiting teams are expected here next week. The Australians are wondering how they will fare. The Americans are training in their own country and will not arrive until June 24 —A, and N.Z. Cable.
