FROM THE Otago Daily Times. "Inveniam viam aut faciam." TUESDAY, JUNE 14, 1864.
The “Wellington Independent” of the 7th instant says“ The loose rumours previously in circulation about the further conduct of the war in a fresh field leave now acquired shape and consistency. On Saturday wo were enabled to slat© that the seat of military operations would Ire changed from Waikato to the West Coast, and now it is distinctly understood to bo the intention of the Ministry to commence a fresh campaign at Taranaki and Wanganui simultaneously, with as little delay as possible. When Air Fox left Auckland, General Cameron bad just returned from the Front, but, although there was not sufficient time to make any arrangements of details, it was understood that about 1600 men could be spared from the Waikato, which force would bo sent South as soon as the necessary arrangements could be made. . . .”
