Logan (Liberal) advocated in the House of Commons the cancellation of the present trade agreement with the West Indies and tho entering into a commercial union such as exists between the tropical possessions of tho United States. He advocated trade agents in all the larger islands and the free admission through Canadian ports of all goods from the West Indies. The ships of the Government merchant marine should be reconditioned or others purchased suitable to handle this tiado instead of subsidising other companies. • Mr Logan read a letter from a prominent citizen of Kingston (Jamaica) stating that if the United States did not secure political control of the islands they would have them by commercial conquest through Canada’s neglected opportunity. , The Minister of’ Railways announced that. a full investigation of the subject would bo made during the recess.—Reuter
