AUSTRALIAN MEAT TRADE
ARGENTINA’S COMPETITION. DEMAND FOR CHILLED BEEF. Pres* Association— By Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, June 12. In giving evidence before a select parlimentary committee, Mr Osborne, a member of the Metropolitan Meat Industries Association, said that in 1922-23 Australia exported 668,000 quarters of frozen meat, a decrease of 54.000 compared with i • previous year.. For the same period the Argentine chilled meat exported amounted to 1.209,000 quarters. He said the reason for the falling off in the Australian trade was not that Australian and New Zealand frozen meat was below the required standard, but that the chilled beef was now in the greatest demand in Britain.
