SLEEP CURES.

Only one woman in ten thousand knows that sleep is a means of keeping fit and beautiful* (says a writer in the World’s Work). The quality of sleep varies. There is a right wav and a Wrong way of sleeping, just as there is of eating, exercising, or working. The secret is the art of relax ing the muscles. Concentrate, when you go to rest, on relaxing the muscles fully, starting with those at the base of the head, and working consciously downwards. You will be surprised to find how rigid the limbs are if not deliberately relaxed. No perfect rest is possible without relaxation, and human beings have lost the animal instinct for making themselves limn in sleep. Facial contortion is a habit that many people contract in sleep, when they go to bed worried and “tautened up.” Watch a woman in pain or mental unrest while she sleeps. You will notice how rigid her facial muscles are. This is death to beauty, and can bo avoided by a deliberate relaxation of the mind as well as the muscles. A. few moments’ massage of the face and hands before going to sleep (moments which any woman can spare, however tired) will have a sedative effect on tired muscles, and sleep will do tho rest.
