LADIES’ RACE TICKETS.

Sib,—May I claim space for a few linos on die subject of the issue of complimentary ladies' tickets by the Dunedin Jockey Club? I Uiitik most members of the fair sex will agree with me that the present system of distribution is most unfair. Some people manage to get several tickets without any bother. In the case of others, it is like asking for gold to attempt to procure one. Some few months ago we were informed tiiat in future ladies would be charged 2s 6d entrance fee, and that tickets would only bo issued to members and those closely connected with racing. There seems now, however, to have been a partial reversion to the old state of affairs, and things seem to be in a more hopeless muddle than ever. If there is to be a payment made at all, why not treat everyone alike and strictly adhere to the rule? Personally, I would gladly pay a small entrance fee if it were put to some purpose other than that of swelling the Government taxation coffers. Bet it. be used for augmenting a fund for injured jockeys, as the events of the past meeting have proved the necessity for such a fund —and after all, jockeys risk their lives for tho pleasure of all sportsmen. The saving in printing tickets could also augment this fund.—l am, etc., % Equal Rights For All. June 9. [We understand that the practice now adopted by the committee of (he Dunedin Jockey Club is to issue four ladies’ tickets to every member for each day’s racing, instead of W.o as formerly, the issue of additional tickets being left to the discretion of the stewards. Ladies’ tickets, other than those referred to above, are sold for 2s 6d oath.—Ed. O.D.T.]
