RECEPTION TO OVERSEAS VISITORS. EMPIRE EXHIBITION GUESTS. (From Our Own Correspondent.) LONDON, April 24. Although the dinner, with reception, given hv Priimess Mary (Viscountess Lascelles) at Chesterfield House was quite a private function, it was an evening which guests from all parts of the Empire will always remember with tho greatest pleasure. Invitations were issued to visitors from Canada. Australia, New Zealand, South Africa. India, Newfoundland, Ceylon, Hongkong, Bermuda. British Guiana, Malta, Cyprus, the Windward Islands, the I.coward Islands, Seychelles, and other outlying parts of tho British dominions. The dinner was quite a small function, the guests at which sat at one long table decorated with Corona carnations. They included the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, Lady Patricia Ramsay, Sir James and Lady Allen, Lord and Lady Novar. 1/ord and Lady Desborough, Lord and Lady Southborough, Lord and Lady Morns. Sir Aston and Lady Webb. Sir Pieter and Lady Stewart-Bam, Senator the Hon. R. A r . and Mrs Wilson. Air and Airs F, C. T. O’Hara, and General Sir John and Lady Hanbury Williams. xVftcr tho dinner the great branching, white marble staircase was crowded with the guests who came for the reception, which was a brilliant function. They were very graciously received at the top of the staircase by the Princess and Lord Lascelles. and they passed into the great crimson and white and gold ball-room. Chesterfield House has beautiful reception rooms, and,- incidentally, some very fine pictures, miniatures, and a collection of jade, the latter being in a cabinet in tho music room leading out of tho ball-room. The guests found a great deal to interest them. Among those who accented invitations wore Lady Curzon of Kedleston, Lord and Lady Clarendon, Lord Granard. Lady Grey of Ealloclen, Airs Asquith and Air Anthony Asquith, Lord and Lady Lee of Faieham, Air and Airs Arthur Henderson, the Hon. E. 11. Farrar. Sir Hugh and Lady Dennison, Sir Alexander and Lady APCormick, Sir Edgar and Lady Walton, Sir W. Egerton, Sir Frank Swcttenham, Sir James and Lady Stevenson, Sir Henry and Lady M‘Mahon, Sir Lawrence and Lady Weaver, Lord and Lady Liverpool, Lord and Lady Islington, and the following from New Zealand: —Sir Arthur and Lady Myers.
