CHINESE BRIGANDS
AMERICAN MISSIONARY KILLED. OTHERS HELD FOR RANSOM. Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright . OTTAWA, June 11. (Received June 11, at 7.20 p.m.) The conditions are becoming increasingly serious in the Kwang-si province of China, where one missionary is known to have been killed and several others are in danger. This information has been received by the Christian Missionary Alliance from the Rev. Mr Jefl'ray, of Toronto, who was recently released by Chinese brigands. Definite confirmation of the fact that the Rev. Joseph Cunningham, of Salem, Virginia, had been killed is contained in the cablegram from Mr Jeffrny, who adds that two missionaries, Mr E. H. Came, of Australia, and Mr Reid, of the South' Baptist Convention, are still being held for ransom, and six others are besieged in because of the fighting which is taking place between Kwang-ai and Kwang-tung.—Reuter.
