The Northern Boxing Association's carnival in aid of the Purdy Olympic Fund attracted a large crowd to the Town Hall. The professional 15-round contest between Eugene Volairo (Queensland) and Harry May (Auckland), the New Zealand welter champion, tor a purse of £IBO, was won by Volaire on points after a good contest. The contestants gave £25 each from the purse to the Purdy Fund. UREN DEFEATS FAIRHALL. (Pee United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, April 14. There was a packed house to-night to see the 15-round boxing contest between Tommy Fairhall and Haviiah Uren, hut contrary to general expectations the fight was a tame one, with neither man boxing up to his reputation.
