“RINGING-IN” CASES

A SECOND MAN CHARGED. ADJOURNMENT TILL FRIDAY. A companion charge to the charge of “ringing-in” laid in the Police Court on Saturday morning was made before Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M., in^the City Police Court yesterday morning. On Saturday, John Richards was charged with conspiring with Walter Leonard James Cameron. Yesterday Walter Leonard James Cameron was charged with conspiring with John Richards by fraudulent means to defraud the Gore Racing Club by entering a trotting horse named The Dingo at the Gore Racing Club’s meeting held on October 20, 1923. under a false name, to wit Kingsdale. Mr J. S. Sinclair appeared for the accused. Chief-detective Lewis asked tnat the case be remanded till April 4, the same day as tho. other case, Mr Sinclair asked that the bail bo made as light as possible. Chief-detective Lewis suggested that it bo the same as in the other case —£300, or two sureties of £lso’. The Magistrate: Can it bo found? Mr Sinclair said that was the question. Accused had just got married and had home ties. He boro a good character. The Magistrate said if there was any difficulty he would consider fixing light bail and rcmiiring accused to report.
