GENERAL NEWS.

The Committee of tbe Kaikorai, School held its monthly meeting on Saturday night, Mr ISosaence presiding. The head master reported that Miss Cray and Mr Bevvs, the recently-appointed assistants, had assumed duty; that Inspector Bain and the board’s architect had visited the school, and that school affairs were progressing satisfactorily. Correspondence was received from the Education Board in reference to the election of committees, and to the appointment of Miss Carey as additional assistant. A letter from the Kaikorai Lawn Tennis Club intimated that instructions had been given to effect the repairs required by the committee. Pictures having been secured for the infant rooms through the efforts of Miss Robertson and her pupils, application for the board's subsidy was to be made. The draft of the report to bo cuibmitted to the meeting of householders was approved, and the balance sheet was considered. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr Miller for his work in getting out the balance sheet. Provision was made for conducting the election of the new committee. The Kensington Juvenile Lodge, 1.0.0. F., still continues to progress, which was shown by the large attendance of members at the meeting on Saturday night, wiiich was presided over by N.G. Bro. T. M’Laren. Sick pay for a brother was passed for payment and two new members were admit ted io membership. The quoit competition, which was completed, was won bv Bro M'Lim-n. The adult visitors included P.G.M. Bro. Valentine and O. Trustee Bro. Kemnitz, who gave very interesting addresses on the work of the lodge. Arrangements were made by the president for the fanev dress competition to 'be held next meeting, and a large number of members handed in their names with the intention of taking part, P.G.M. Bro. Valentine consenting to act aa judge.
