MEETING OF SHAREHOLDERS. The annual meeting of shareholders in the Pacific Preserving Co.. Ltd., was held in the registered office. South Dunedin, yesterday afternoon. About 20 shareholders were present. and tlie chair was occupied by Mr T. Somerville. The secretary (Mr Taverner) read the notice calling the meeting. Tim Chairman said that shareholders would notice that three reporters were present, and ho thought it ’yas wise that they should retire, as shareholders wanted frankly and freely to duscuss matters. They were matters regarding their common good, and he was satisfied that the best thing to do was to ask the reporters to retire, on the understanding that a full report of the proceedings would he submitted to fho papers by flic secretary.

The motion was carried, there being only one dissentient voice. The reporters then retired.
