BANK OF NEW ZEALAND.
VACANCY ON DIRECTORATE. From Oca Own Cobeespondent.) WELLINGTON, December 17. There is more than ordinary interest in. local commercial circles in connection with the tilling of the vacancy on the Bank ot New Zealand directorate, in connection with which the names of some prominent business and professional men are being mentioned. It is also stated that Mr Richard W. Gibbs, chief auditor of the bank, is requesting the Minister of Finance to abow him to retire from that position, in order that ho may offer his services to the shareholders as a director. Mr Gibbs iias been, associated with the bank for nearly 50 years. Mr Gibbs states that the mention of his name is unauthorised.
