Lord Burnham (president of the Empire Press Union), in lecturing at the Colonial Institute on “ The Influence of thfi Press on the Development of the Empire,” said that the spirit of independence had made the Press such a great power throughout the dominions that it was calculated to become the greatest power in democratic States. The newspapers in Australia and New Zealand were more English than many English papers, which American novelties had so largely altered.—Sydney Sun Cable.
