PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Dunedin City Council, at a Special Meeting convened for the purpose and held on Wednesday, the 7th day of November, 1923, passed the following resolution authorising the raising of a Special Loan of £26,000, to be known as the Flood Damage Loan. 1923. AND NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that the said resolution will be submitted to an Ordinary Meeting of the Council to be held at the Council Chambers, Town Hall, on Wednesday, the sth day of December, 1923, at 7.30 o’clock p.m., for confirmation ns a Special Order. The resolution is as follows: 1. THAT it be and is hereby resolved by the Dunedin City Council, so that this resolution may bo confirmed at a subsequent meeting of the Council and operate as a Special Order, that the said Council, in pursuance and exorcise of the pow T ers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loan* Act. 1915,” and ‘‘The Local Bodies’ Finance Act, 1921-22,” do raise a Special Loan of Twenty-six Thousand Pounds (£26,000), to be known ns ‘‘The Flood Damage Loan, 1923,” for the purpose of providing for the exceptional expenditure, beyond the provisions made in the yearly estimates for the current year, as the result of damage done by the floods of April and May,. 1923. 2. THAT the security to bo pledged for the interest and sinking fund and repayment of the said special loan of £26,000 be a special annual recurring rate of Three Farthings (i|d) in the Pound upon the rateable value (on the basis of the annual value) of all rateable properly of the City of Dunedin, comprising the whole of the City of Dunedin, in addition to the liability of the Corporation of the City of Dunedin and its assets generally for payment of the Debentures and Coupons issued in respect of the said Loan. 5. THAT the currency of the said special loan be twenty (20) years from the Ist day of March. 1924. 4. THAT a sinking fund of Three Pounds per centum per annum on the amount of the said loan bo established in connection with the same, and that the amount _of suoh sinking fund be paid to the Sinking Fund Commissioners, to be appointed for that purpose, on the Ist day of March in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of 20 years from the Ist day of March, 1924. or until the loan is fully paid off, of which sinking fund the first payment shall be made on the Ist day of March, 1925. 5. TxIAT the said special loan of £26,000 be raised by the issue of debentures under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913,” and bear interest at the rate of no more than 5i per cent, per annum, payable half-yearly on the Ist day of September and the Ist day of March in each and every year during the currency of such loan, and that Coupons be annexed to each such Debenture accordingly, and that the said Debentures and Coupons be payable at the Bank of New Zealand, Dunedin, free of exchange to the holder thereof. 6. THAT tlie Corporate Seal bo affixed to all such Debentures and that all such Debentures and Coupons be signed by the Mayor and countersigned by the City Treasurer, but so that their respective signatures to the coupons may be lithographed on the coupons. AND FURTHER THAT this resolution be submitted for confirmation ns a Special Order to an Ordinary Meeting of the said Council to be held on Wednesday, the sth day of December. 1923. at 7.30 p.m., at the Town Hall, Dunedin.
