MOTOR BANDITS
AMERICAN TOWN RAIDED. CAREFULLY-PLANNED ESCAPADE. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright NEW YORK, November 7. Twenty bandits swept the town of Spencer (Indiana) early in the morning. They blasted open the safes of two banks, and escaped with 13,000d0l into the Kentucky Hills. They drove into Spencer in automobiles, captured Mr Vaughan (Chief of Police), locked him in the City Hall, and cut the telephone wires while others used high explosives. They badly wrecked ( the bank buildings. The bandits fired upon and wounded some of the residents when they were making a dash from the town -after the raid.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
