All the dominion representatives expressed gratitude to the British Government for the offer of increased (preference. It is understood that the British Government to-day announced further preferences which are expected considerably to benefit tho dominions. They will take the form of new duties against foreigners, while the dominions’ products will he free. It is believed that the new duties proposed include 5s per cwt on apples, 10s fid per cwt on honey, and fid a gallon on fruit juices, which are used in. England in the manufacture of jam. It is understood, also, that preference io the dominions’ heavy wines will be increased by amounts ranging from onethird to two-thirds.
