Sailed: Kennedy (5 p.m.), for Foxton; Karamea (11.50 a.m.), for Dunedin; Maori (8.25 p.m.), for Wellington. , i. ™ i MALTA, November 7.—Passed; Port Chalmers, for Wellington.The Waikouaiti will dock at Port Chalmers to-day for annual survey. _ The Huia, which anchored in_ the lower harbour on Wednesday night to discharge explosives from Auckland, berthed at Port Chalmers yesterday to load for Auckland^ The Kamo left Napier on Wednesday night for Dunedin direct. She is due here tomorrow morning, and will sail the same day for Napier and Gisborne, via ports. The Ngakuta, from Auckland, via ports, arrived here yesterday morning, and was berthed at the cross wharf, where she is discharging a quantity of general cargo. She left last night for Blufi, and will proceed from there to Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton, Wc-llington, and Auckland. According to a cable message received by the New Zealand Shipping Company Ha steamer Hurunui arrived at Brisbane on Friday last from New York, via Panama. The vessel will discharge her general cargo at Australian ports. The Opawa left Adelaide on Friday last for Melbourne with cargo for Liverpool. Tho vessel will come to New Zealand early next month to load for England. The old wooden coal hulk Blackwall recently purchased by Messrs Eckford and Co., was towed away from Wellington on Monday afternoon in order to be sunk at the mouth of the Wairau River. It is anticipated that tho sinking of the hulk at the bar will cause tho channel to be scoured, and thus afford deep water for the vessels trading between Wellington and Blenheim. Mr E. G. F. Zohrab’s steam tug Pelican towed the Blackwall away as far as the four-mile limit outside the Heads in the direction of Sinclair Head. Messrs Eckford and Co.’s steamer Wairau then took the hulk in tow for Port Underwood. Captain Donald M'Donald has assumed command of the Kakapo, relieving Captain G. Knowles, who has come ashore on holiday leave. The Trelyon is expected to leave early this morning for Newcastle. The Kaiinanawa will come up from Port Chaim eis to-morrow morning to load for Lyttelton and Auckland. The Ataa left Auckland at 3 o’clock on Wednesday afternoon for Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. She is due here Tuesday and will leave the following day for Auckland, via ports. THE CANADIAN SPINNER. The Canadian Spinner, which is to load in New Zealand for New iork, Boston, and Halifax, will visit Bluff, Dunedin, Lyttelton, and Wellington, arriving at Wellington about November 30. She will proceed from vvellington to Auckland, and will sail (finally from the northern port about December 4 for the North American ports. THE CITY OF BIRMINGHAM. The City of Birmingham arrived here yesterday afternoon from New York, via Panama, Auckland, Napier, Wellington, Now Plymouth, and Lyttelton, and was berthed at the Rattray street wharf, where she will discharge about 800 tons of case oil and general cargo. The City of Birmingham left New York on September 12 and experienced fine weather until she reached Pitcairn Island dn October 4, when the weather became rough, and the vessel battled against a heavy storm for about three days, after which conditions became calm, and remained so until the vessel completed her voyage. Captain A. N. Hogg is in command, and has with him Messrs Hassard-Short (chief officer', D. Cameron (''econd), J. H. Heed (third), W. Freeland (chief engineer), J. B. Stewart (second), D. Munroe (third), W. Barber (fourth), J. Hogan (wireless operator). The vessel has a crew of 72, of whom 19 are Europeans and the rest Asiatics. Tho City of Birmingham will leave to-morrow ior Sydney. DORSET, FROM SOUTHAMPTON. The Federal steamer Dorset, from London and Southampton, arrived here yesterday afternoon from Lyttelton, and was berthed at tho Victoria wharf to discharge about 800 tons of general cargo. The vessel left Southampton on September 6, taking with her 357 third-class passengers for New. Zealand ports. She reached Colon on Septemher 24 and Pitcairn Island on October 9. The Dorset experienced fine weather until in the vicinity of Auckland, when strong winds were encountered.. Captain S. W. Somera-Vine is in command of the vessel, and has with him Messrs H. S. White (chief officer), H. Neagle (second) j! S. Blomfteld (third), L. Cann (fourth), ’W. Mackay (chief engineer), W. R. Guthrie (second), D. Hall (third), E, Williamson (fourth), H. Young (fifth), W. Owen (sixth), Dr R. T. F. Grace (ship’s surgeon), Mr W. .Swift (chief steward). The Dorset will go to Port Chalmers on Sunday morning to load for America and the United Kingdom, and will sail on Monday for Now Plymouth. She will subsequently load at Lyttelton, Wellington, and Auckland, and will leave Auckland finally on December 1 for London and West of England ports and New York. WITHIN WIRELESS RANGE. .
