M O O D AND CHEMICALS. ANALYST’S DISTURBING REVELATIONS. Perils of Cumulative Effect. Writing on 21st September, 1923. the London correspondent of the Otago Daily Times reports, inter alia: A somewhat disturbing letter by Mr Otto Hehner was published in tlie London Times yesterday. This calls attention to the cumulative effect on the human system of minute quantities of insidious poisons or physiologically active substances used as preservatives in foods and cheap drinks. For instance, cheap, artificial, temperance beverages contain salicylic or benzoic acid or sulphur dioxide. Seven grains to the pint are required for effective prcservatisation. For the last SO years Thomsons have been drawing the attention of the public to these injurious adulterations through the columns of this paper. To safeguard your health, always read the labels on the bottles. mORTURED WITH NEURITIS. WITCH’S OIL STOPPED THE AGONISING PAINS. “ I really thought I was going mad with neuritis in my arm. The pain was frightful, and the" slightest touch or movement was exquisite torture. 1 suffered for days, and I suppose I would still be suffering if a friend hadn’t brought me a bottle of Witch’s Oil to try. It acted like magic. The first application relieved. In a few hours the pain had entirely disappeared, and since thou I haven’t been troubled in the slightest.” The foregoing demonstrates the efficacy of Witch’s Oil for that agonising complaint, neuritis, and numerous other cases could ho cited. Witch’s Oil penetrates to the root of the trouble, soothes the aching nerves, draws out the pain ; and generates a, pleasing, glowing sensation in the afflicted part. T HE WILL AND THE WAY. 7.—Making and Breaking of Estates. Everybody knows that the breaking of anything is usually easier than the making. “ Some men devote a lifetime to building up an estate —and their heirs proceed to dissipate it- in throe or four years,” writes an American reviewer. “ Who's to blame? Not the heirs, but primarily the men who are careless enough to leave their fortunes in inexperienced hands.” A reviewer of the statistics of estates in the U.S.A. says;—“The average estate lasts from seven to nine years after the creator’s death. Unwise investments loss or dissipation in 90 per cent, of cases prove the undoing.”. Trouble is courted when a person does not make the right kind of will and • arrange for the right kind of trustee. The way to safeguard an estate from ruinous mismanagement or dissipation is by appointing the State-guaranteed 'Public Trustee as your executor in a carefully drafted will. Because of that little extra profit. TO A FEW WHOLESALERS; Why do a few wholesalers stock up the retailers with cheap adulterated cordials, when they know these goods will be in weak demand? Because of that little extra profit. * TO SOME RETAILERS:. Why do some retailers allow themselves to be persuaded to purchase adulterated cordials which are dear at any price, and which have their many injurious adulterations appearing on the labels? Because of that little extra profit. to I.END on Mortgage of Land J. W. THOMSON. SOLICITOR, 24 Water street (near Stock Exchange).
