(Received Oct. 11, at 10.10 p.m.) Through cheering crowds at Toronto Mr Lloyd George went to the City Hall. He spoke through a megaphone, but his voice was nearly inaudible. Later a mass meeting heard his message on Empire unity—“So that when the War-cry goes up Britain may be strong enough to cry halt.” He followed the safhe lilies as in his previous speeches. His voice was noticeably hoarse, and the back rows scarcely heard him. Dame Clara Butt sang the National Anthem.
