EMPIRE EXHIBITION

NO COMPETITIVE AWARDS. PROPOSAL BY AUTHORITIES. Preca A»«ooiatioa—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, October 10. Owing to many difficulties in the way of assessing effectively the merits of the different exhibits at the Empire Exhibition, the authorities propose to abandon competitive awards and to issue instead a commemorative medal to all exhibitors. An endeavour is being made to secure the support of the dominions, and if the general opinion favours the proposal, stops will immediately be taken to regularise the abandonment of awards. If this is found to be impossible the awards will probably be made by a jury appointed bv the exhibitors in the various sections. —A. and N.Z. Cable.
