LOYALTY AND TRADE. TO THF, EDITOR. Sin,—The letter by “James Patrick on the above would bo amusing were the subject, not so serious. Preference to British manufactures is all very well in its way, but does Great Britain extend to us the same preference? I do not think so. With the British as with others it is merely a matter of pounds, shillings, and ponce. To mention only one instance, the British Government itself gave a large meat contract to America, Why not to Australia? No, it could got the meat a farthing a pound cheaper in America. What about loyalty? “Loyalty! why, this is business.’’ business is a matter only of pounds, shillings, and ponce.—l am etc., Enough Said,
