PUBLIC NOTICES. rpHE TOWN HALL LOAN PROPOSAL. Those Citizens who are Qualified to Vote on the Proposal to BORROW tho SUM of £90,000 to provide a TOWN HALL worthy of tho City of Dunedin aro reminded that tho POLL is to be taken on AVEDNESDAY NEXT, JUNE 27. A Public Meeting hold recently expressed approval of the proposal, and resolved that an appeal should bo made to all Ratepayers to support tho scheme. The need for such a hall ha? been long felt, and on many occasions its absence lias been a matter of reproach to our city. We pride ourselves upon many of our civic ventures and there is no denying the fact that wo arc able to show financial results that are the envy of many other centres. In view of this fact, it is all the more desirable that this blot on the fair name of tho city, that is so frequently brought to one’s mind, should he removed. , The cost of tho proposal should not bo beyond our resources. A Special Kate ot twopence is being nl edged to ensure tho debentures of the loan being “ gilt edged, and therefore readily disposed of, but the actual call on the ratepayer is confidently expected to be much less than that amount, as there is no question that the hall will be largely used and, judging by the experience of other centres, the income should provide a margin towards the Interest bill, after all working expenses have been paid. Therefore I have no hesitation in cordially asking Ratepayers to RECORD THEIR VOTES IN FAVOUR OF THE LOAN PROPOSAL. . All Electors enrolled on the Roll, except those with only a “ residential qualification, may vote! That is to say, husband and wife may both vote if either of them is, in fact, an actual ratepayer and enrolled as such. Note the Date: WEDNESDAY, JUNE 27.
