HONOUR TO ANZACS.

THE BERRIMA’S PASSENGERS. WREATH MADE OF SHIPS’ CHARTS. (From Our Own Correspondent.) . . LONDON, May 18. A few days ago some 25 Australians and half-a-dozen New Zealanders mot in Whitehall to lay a wreath on tho Cenotaph. The cei oniony was the sequel of what took place on tne P. and O. liner Bcrrima, on its voyage up the West Coast of Africa. Anzac Day was observed as a “holy day,” and the South African passengers on board very considerately fell into line with Australians and New Zealanders. An impressive service was conducted by the Rev. H L Blamires (Chaplain-major, N.Z.E.F.), and it was decided that a wreath should be laid at the foot of the Cenotaph when the Berrima arrived in London. The chief officer of the vessel suggested and produced something unique for the wreath which was made on board. Old ships’ charts were painted green, and from those were cut imitation -laurel leaves, which were made up into garlands and woven to form the wreath. On a black centre in gilt lettering was the word “Anzac," and a large bow was made of the same material as the leavds. The floral tribute was placed on tho Cenotaph by Mrs Blamires and Mrs M'Kay, wife of General M‘Kay, of the Australian Forces, and those who were present observed, the two minutes’ silence. In addition to Mr and Mrs Blamires other New Zealanders who had been passengers by the Berrima and who took part in the ceremony were: Mr M. Marks (late Government printer), Miss F. Marks, and Miss Sybil Lyons.
