CANADIAN RAILWAYS
LARGE ANNUAL GRANT. OTTAWA', Juno 10. Following a long debate, the House of Commons passed the annual grant to the Canadian National Railways for the ensuing year. This amounts to £14,600,000. The sum included £400,000 as the purchase price of the company’s new headquarters, which was guaranteed by the Government, pending the formation of a New York syndicate to handle the deal. This course was much criticised, but the item was passed, the Prime Minister declaring that the Government was prepared to support the management.
